External memory or microSD card is still a vital part of a current smartphone industry. Some flagship smartphone may not be so need it because it has an internal storage capable. But the majority of the lower middle smartphone still needed.
MicroSD own existence would seem slowly being replaced by UFS (universal flash storage). The reason, Samsung has recently introduced its first UFS UFS also become the world's first commercially available.
Three times faster
UFS offers speeds far above the microSD type of UHS-I and UHS-II though. Average speed writing and reading of a microSD current highest ie 90 MB / s and 156 MB / s. While the UFS has read and write speeds of 170 MB / s and 530 MB / s.
